ABSTRACT
At the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation held on May 14, 2017 in Beijing, President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote speech entitled Work Together to Build the Silk Road Economic Belt and The 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. As President Xi views it, building the Road of Peace remains the priority in enhancing the prospect of the Belt and Road Initiative. Peace is the fundamental principle and goal of the Belt and Road Initiative as well as the prerequisite to exchange, cooperation, development and prosperity. China looks forward to enhancing friendship and cooperation with all countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence. The Belt and Road Initiative upholds the principle of seeking shared benefits through consultation and collaboration, with an aim to complement different countries’ development strategies to achieve common development.
