ABSTRACT

The report to the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held in 2012 drew a blueprint for building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and accelerating socialist modernisation. The core goal of the Chinese Dream can actually be summarised as the Two Centenary Goals: to gradually realise the Great Rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation by the time the Communist Party of China celebrates its centenary in 2021 and the People’s Republic of China celebrates its centenary in 2049. The interval between the 19th and the 20th National Congress of the CPC is the historical intersection of the Two Centenary Goals which are with great significance to the progress of China’s socialist modernisation. Looking to the future, China will start a new journey to build a modern socialist country and realise the second Centenary Goal.
