ABSTRACT
China–Kazakhstan capacity cooperation spearheaded the landscape of Chinese capacity cooperation with foreign counterparts. China has been proactively promoting the Belt and Road Initiative by steadfastly carrying out international capacity cooperation and improving the work system for going global, which expedited active participation of Chinese enterprises in economic globalisation. In regard to decision-making by the leadership, China began as early as December 2014 to incorporate capacity cooperation as one of the priorities in top leadership meetings. In 2016, net foreign direct investment from China hit US$196.15 billion, which was the highest in history and ranked second in the world with an increase of 34.7% over the previous year. From the angle of connotation, production capacity cooperation is the fabrics of foreign economic cooperation of China, but for it to be a model of this activity began after the proposal of the Belt and Road Initiative. Capacity cooperation has thus become an important approach to promote the Belt and Road Initiative.
