ABSTRACT

The concept is that all civilisations have strengths, so different civilisations should draw on others’ advantages through exchanges so as to secure world peace and achieve shared prosperity. In a speech at United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation headquarter on March 28, 2014, President Xi Jinping expressed that “civilizations have become richer and more colorful with exchanges and mutual learning. On April 29, 2016, the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee conducted the 31st joint study on the historic Silk Road and the Maritime Silk Road in history, emphasising people-to-people exchanges and cultural programmes as the proper meaning of the Belt and Road Initiative. A transnational archeological dig is a typical example for exchanges among civilisation. On April 28, 2016, Xi Jinping attended the opening of the fifth meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs of the conference on interaction and confidence-building measures in Asia and recalled Dialogue for Asian Civilisations.
