ABSTRACT

On the afternoon of May 14, 2017, the Thematic Session on Infrastructure Connectivity of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation was hosted in the National Convention Centre, with topics including infrastructure facility development, network linkage, technical standard harmonisation and facilitation of international operation. Connectivity in infrastructure is likened as “the joint” in the Belt and Road, which assists and enables flexible movements, bearing significance to social and economic development in Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) participating countries and the well-being of their peoples. In his speech, Minister Li Xiaopeng emphasised that infrastructure connectivity is the foundation of cooperation and development. Guests of all sides delved into the topics of major objectives, focus areas, cooperation mechanisms and models of implementation of Belt and Road infrastructure connectivity, reaching broad consensus and providing a range of feasible ideas and suggestions to promoting BRI across the board.
