ABSTRACT
The planning and implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative always attracts the close attention of many South American countries. In 2017, through the active interaction of both sides, a new stage was finally reached for a strategic alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative with South American countries and the Integration of the Regional Infrastructure in South America (IIRSA) Initiative. After the scope of the Belt and Road cooperation is formally expanded and a formal alignment is implemented between the Belt and Road Initiative and the IIRSA Initiative, a new stage is rapidly entered for the cooperation of China with South American and Latin American countries. China will be dedicated to aligning the development strategies with Latin American and relevant Caribbean countries, and boost a pragmatic cooperation in various fields through the concept, principle and cooperation mode of joint Belt and Road construction.
