ABSTRACT
This chapter begins with an introduction to perspectives and typologies of intimate partner violence (IPV) as a global public health problem. Following this introduction is an analysis of the intersection between substance misuse and IPV, presenting evidence both about perpetrating and experiencing IPV. The chapter concludes with recommendations for integrated prevention and intervention approaches and research addressing IPV and substance use in social work and other disciplines.
