ABSTRACT
Financial institutions, government agencies and commercial banks often feel the need for industry segmentation in terms of homogeneity of performance in order to enable policy formulation on a macro basis. This chapter points out that such segmentation in terms of one variable is often inadequate and therefore suggests a broader approach to industry segmentation. The authors illustrate this concept by presenting the methodology of a study carried out by them and suggest conclusions.
