ABSTRACT

The publication of some of Edmund Husserl’s major works during his own lifetime mark important stages in his academic career and philosophical development. Husserl’s years as a Privatdozent at the university of Halle culminated in the publication of Logical Investigations. This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book introduces some of Husserl’s major works. It presents key topics in Husserl’s thought, often paying special attention to Husserl’s immediate philosophical context or contemporary discussions. The book addresses Husserl’s thought and corresponds to ways in which those who are not already initiated into Husserl’s thinking might approach philosophy and the subdisciplines that generally characterize it.
