ABSTRACT

This chapter offers “A Scientific Approach to the Study of Indian Culture” discussing “Ecological Complementarity between Evolution and Involution.” By this the author means a holistic framework for conducting studies on culture and philosophy of science in India. This chapter addresses the need to redraw complementarities between scientific pursuits at a particular level of knowledge, with pursuits and inputs drawn from other levels such as culture, philosophy, and even normative sciences like psychology and bio-anthropology, which can extend up to “deep ecological” concerns having moral, ethical, and “spiritual” dimensions. Sen’s objective is to set indispensable iterations within the hierarchy to evolve a holistic framework of an emerging “new science.”
