ABSTRACT
This study gives an account of the slangs present in the social varieties that have greatest impact on contemporary Spanish. We explore various factors such as social class, occupation, age, ethnicity, marginality and sexual orientation. Our primary aim is to address the lack of emphasis that has been placed on the diastratic and diaphasic varieties of language across the whole Hispanic world, a lack which has been driven by normativist prejudices.
