      ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a series of reflections and proposals for orienting the research on (trans)media literacy and participatory cultures in the context of the new media ecology. These reflections and proposals have emerged from the experience of the H2020 Transmedia Literacy research project supported by the EC (ref. 645238). This international research project, which started in 2015 and finished in 2018, involved more than 50 researchers from eight countries: Australia, Colombia, Finland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom and Uruguay (Scolari, 2018). After describing the objectives and main outcomes of the research, Section 1 discusses the map of transmedia skills that emerged from the data analysis, while the second section focusses on the teens’ informal learning strategies. Finally, Section 3 introduces a series of reflections and research proposals.
