ABSTRACT

The aim of this chapter is to analyse the development of media education oriented in particular to children and adolescents in school environments. We have adopted a wide approach, since the Argentine provinces enjoy different degrees of autonomy to adapt central policies and to generate their own according to their needs and local characteristics. The panorama offered here covers the socio-historical contexts and the public and regulatory policies that allowed the emergence and expansion of education for the media, as well as the academic enclaves that regard it as a promising space for knowledge and practices in our country.
