ABSTRACT

El Salvador is a country with a high level of media consumption, but it lacks the necessary degree of education to move forward and become an audience that enjoys its access to information from a critical perspective. This chapter underlines three fundamental elements. First, that there are not many practical experiences connected with a process of reflection about educommunication. Second, that in those areas where the State’s institutional framework is fragile, the civil society get involved in the creation of a media education agenda as a possibility to have an impact on society but not from the perspective of a formal and permanent program. And the third is not an observation but a commitment. During this research we have realized that educommunication is nowhere to be found; that is why we want to make a commitment and promote the first project of educommunication in the country, and we believe that this is also what research is about.
