ABSTRACT

In Mexico, the Public Secretary of Education (SEP) regulates and distributes the content related to educommunication through various governmental radio and television networks, and through the Digital Literacy and Inclusion Program Digital (PIAD). In basic education, as in the teacher-training programmes, the technology is transversal. Media literacy is usually given by university media stations, mainly by the most important universities in the country. The actions to promote effective media literacy in Mexico are strengthened by the intervention of SEP, NGOs and television networks. However, as in the rest of the world, public policies in this matter have intended to respond to the progress of communication and digital technologies.
