ABSTRACT

Mindfulness reflects a state of consciousness in which individuals experience present events without making any judgments. In recent years, studies on mindfulness have burgeoned as a growing line of organizational scholarship. Thus, mindfulness is under the spotlight of scholars extensively with its benefits since it enables individuals to cope with their negative emotions and garner their positive states, which results in fostering more positive organizational behaviors. While mindfulness is addressed by clinical psychology scholars with a great deal of attention, the role of mindfulness still needs to be investigated from an organizational perspective. Motivated by this gap within the literature, this study attempts to shed light on the interrelationships between mindfulness, emotional exhaustion, and creativity, where emotional exhaustion takes part as a mediator. The results of the study show that while emotional exhaustion can hinder employee creativity, mindfulness reduces the detrimental effect of emotional exhaustion through which it ignites individuals’ creativity.
