ABSTRACT
New inquiries and experiments abound, seeking to understand what the growing prominence of cities and urban ways of life mean for theory, practice, and transformation. Thinking Global Urbanism, then, is a heterodox set of voices that takes on global urbanism, probing and provoking rather than seeking to draw a line under a complex, changing, and profoundly important set of issues. One vital task for urban theory is to orient itself to enable the surfacing of the multiple ways in which the urban is made political in order to, ultimately, do its part in sustaining its most progressive expressions and instantiations as defined from the ground of action.
