ABSTRACT

Yussif Larry Aminu is the founder of Spread-Out Initiative (SOI), a non-governmental organisation (NGO) set up to support children and youth from diverse backgrounds in Nima, a neighbourhood in Accra, to realize their potential and attain their dreams of a better future. He is also a Pan-African and a philanthropist who believes in preserving cultures and people’s histories. Victoria Ogoegbunam Okoye is a Nigerian-American doctoral researcher based at the University of Sheffield who worked in Accra for several years on community and youth projects. Victoria and Larry connected in Accra and are doing collaborative research in Nima. They are interested in how to bring people’s art, culture, sociality, and history into design rather than imposing western philosophy or ideology.1
