ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book provides an eclectic collection of judicial interviews from around the globe. It offers experienced magistrates, justices, and judge's unique perspectives on the most significant legal developments and issues in criminal and procedural law facing their respective nations. The book then provides a brief overview of each judge’s national judicial and legal system is provided to facilitate an understanding of the milieu in which the judge operates. It also details judicial interviews from the Caribbean: Dominica and Trinidad and Tobago. The book focuses on European judicial interviews which were conducted with judges from Estonia, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia, and Scotland. The general goal of the interviews is to present the justices views and interpretations of legal developments and current issues in the law and procedure in their respective nations.
