ABSTRACT

On September 30, 2020, Sebastián Sal conducted an interview with one of the most important federal judges in criminal matters in Argentina, Mr. Ariel Oscar Lijo. At the interview, Judge Lijo gave his perspectives on different topics such as how the Argentinean judicial system works, how it should be improved, the problems and pressures that the federal judges in criminal matters face in the country—since they are in charge in cases related to corruption in the public sector—and told some personal situations that he had to face at his office. The article provides an overview of the judicial system in Argentina; describes the career, family, and social background of Judge Lijo; and concludes with the author’s opinion about the judge.
