ABSTRACT

There is a science to makeup artistry and the more complex you go with your designs, the more you will need to understand the human anatomy. In this chapter Christine Sciortino strips back the makeup and starts with the canvas. It is often a makeup artist's job to illustrate age, injury, and illness, so part of a skilled MUA's research is to understand how these processes occur on the body. Discussing bones, muscles, and blood vessels Sciortino calls upon human anatomy writers such as Steve Parker in his book The Human Body Book: An Illustrated Guide to Its Structure, Function, and Disorders and Daniel McNeill with The Face to break down the lesser understood side of makeup.
