ABSTRACT

In this section of Christine Sciortino's Makeup Artistry for Film and Television, makeup artist Christopher Payne gives an overview of makeup prosthetics. As pre-made pieces that are glued to an actor to build on their character, in film and television prosthetics are a brilliant special effects tool for storytelling. Well-made prosthetics can increase the continuity and scale of a character embellishment so knowing the types of prosthetics available and how to work with them is an invaluable skill. Payne prepares makeup artists with the basics they need to safely handle and apply prosthetics in the world of film and television.
