ABSTRACT

This chapter highlights the reconstruction of the palaeogeography and palaeoenvironment of Bangladesh. From a geographical perspective, it reveals that the evolutionary history of any region requires a holistic approach and that there are some significant physical and cultural aspects of an area, which need to be properly addressed too. Finally, it argues that the archaeologist and geo-scientist can take the opportunity to infer the palaeo-human occupancy in Bangladesh though a detailed investigation on peat accumulation during the Holocene.
