ABSTRACT

The 29th Summer Universiade took place in Taipei; besides government employees, the organizing committee recruited a large number of temporary full time and part-time staff members and volunteers to prepare and stage the event. During the entire preparation process, the organizing committee faced many challenges. Through conducting a situation analysis, this article makes an illustration of the importance and procedures of successfully managing the event through building a strong working culture, building pride and identity, conveying a unified mission, overcoming obstacles, empowering staff members and ultimately providing excellent services to the event participants, visitors, and spectators.
