ABSTRACT

In order to increase preservice teacher’s abilities to do hands-on real work in school gardens with primary and preschool children, the professor and her students operate to build reciprocity and social connections across the globe. While teachers as learners worked on mathematics, science, and literacy, adults and children also addressed the common notion of caring for the Earth. Beyond the celebration of Earth Day, our work culminated with North American and Ghanaian Elders working together to nurture children’s understanding of growing spaces, while building longer term alliances which continue to evolve for global and local change.
