ABSTRACT
With online teacher education programs in TESOL increasingly in demand, there is a need to address the challenges online TESOL educators have to face. While a greater number of language teachers are expected to teach online themselves, little attention has been paid in the literature to online language teacher education (OLTE) instructors. The present chapter examines the educational needs of these teachers in terms of the new set of skills and competences they need to acquire, reviews relevant online teacher education programs, and reports on the case of a pre-service online teacher training course that prepares prospective language teachers at a fully online Spanish university.
