ABSTRACT
This chapter presents a survey of conversion to Islam in Western Europe and the United States. For each continent, a brief history of conversion to Islam in the region is followed by short discussions of convert population sizes and trends in conversion, with each Western European country addressed individually. Highlighted are the common traits in converts’ backgrounds, paths to conversion, changes in conversion over the past 40 years and dynamics concerning race and sectarian affiliation.
