Chapter 1, “Getting Started in Your Clinical Experiences,” includes a glossary of supervisory terms, various perspectives surrounding school counselor identity, practical views of the clinical experiences of practicum and internship, professional counseling organizations, what to expect from supervision, materials that will be needed for supervision, factors to consider in working with a site supervisor, and concrete activities that are designed for you to think about your personal identity in the profession. As you engage in a rudimentary grasp of the supervisory process, understanding the educational milieu is the next step.
