ABSTRACT

Chapter 4, “An Overview of Supervisory Practices,” provides the SCIT with information on making an initial contact with the school site supervisor, appropriate dress, school policies and procedures, introducing yourself to stakeholders within the boundaries of the school policies, and considerations for making a contribution to the school site and the profession. Furthermore, wellness as an integral, philosophical, professional component and attention to self-care are described. As you are apprised of the logistics surrounding supervision, your next step is to have an awareness of how supervision works, not only as a novice, but later as an established, experienced member of the profession. For site supervisors and program faculty, the information in this chapter will provide practical guidance on the supervisory process.
