ABSTRACT

Chapter 5, “Supervision as a Developmental Passage,” provides insight into developmental models of supervision with examples of supervisor roles and expectations. At times, supervision is not a smooth progression, as there are various challenges such as multicultural issues, anxiety and resistance, parallel process, and dual roles that could impair the process. As a student training for the school counseling profession (and later on, when you are an experienced member of the profession), an awareness of these issues can assist in preparation for supervision. For site supervisors, the information described will reveal the epigenetic growth you will achieve as you gain experience as a supervisor.
