ABSTRACT

Implementing a long-term project in a large company comes with numerous challenges, including delays, changes in requirements, and problems of continuity related to the key people who are involved with the project. In this case study, we will not discuss how to manage long-term projects, which documents are needed, or the various phases of a project. Rather, our aim is to tell a story about the implementation of an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system in a large company in the UAE. The purpose is to highlight the issues and formulate a list of the lessons learned during the project, as told by the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and the ERP project manager.
