ABSTRACT

This essay is an educational analysis of the public school system in New Orleans. Focused on the transition, transformation, and transcendence of public education after Hurricane Katrina, the author signals the points of retention and attrition of public school students in New Orleans. Unfortunately, during this aftermath of Katrina, the public school system in New Orleans has not pivoted toward stabilization. Whereas, currently, the elementary and secondary school system are designed based on public charter schools organized out of individual parishes.
