The North American Interstate Weather Modification Council (NAIWMC) serves states and provinces, political subdivisions, and even federal agencies that are interested in uniform regulation and coordination of all weather modification activities. A special committee of the Weather Modification Association (WMA) drafted model state legislation in the fall of 1967. The motivation for providing elements for a state model law was to provide information on the features that were considered desirable to accomplish the major objectives of the WMA. The NAIWMC became intensely involved in federal legislation after its annual meeting in Kansas City in January 1976. NAIWMC will continue to make recommendations on federal, state, and local regulations to arrive at uniformity of weather modification activities and licensing. Dean Mann summarized the Institutional Relations and Dissemination of Information session of the Duke Conference in March 1976.
