ABSTRACT

The inventory is primarily an annotated bibliography of activities around the globe that have as their purpose to produce, fund or coordinate educational programs. This chapter deals with national programming efforts, then international programming efforts, followed by a listing of regional programming efforts. Since the efforts of the United States in cooperative programming for education probably run the gamut as broadly as any country in the world, some selected agencies in the United States are the first listed. Japan has a very sophisticated system of media production and distribution. Japan’s educational broadcasting is performed through a dual-system-by NHK, the public broadcasting organization, and by private commercial broadcasters. The institute produces audiovisual materials for educational areas from preschool to college and youth and adult education, and promotes educational technology through its advisory services, testing of equipment, and sale of materials to audiovisual centers, schools, and other educational institutions.
