ABSTRACT

Whenever an investigator meets a survivor of traumatic events there is a chance that the interviewer will witness-and may even precipitate-posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). „erefore, it is important that professional investigators (including grizzled veterans) anticipate PTSD, recognize it, and report it, while earning the respect of those interviewed. „e recognition of PTSD and related conditions enhances not only an investigator’s professionalism, but also the interviewer’s humanitarianism.
