ABSTRACT

Workforce planning and development (WPD) involves a process that identifies the quantity as well as the quality of skilled human resources needed to accomplish set targets by matching the right people to the right jobs at the right time and at the right cost. However, WPD for broader sustainable development remains one of the key challenges in emerging economies as the conceptual and analytical development of WPD are limited to date and have not attracted adequate research interest. This chapter responds to this gap and proposes and discusses a holistic approach to the WPD framework for sustainable development in the context of emerging economies.
