ABSTRACT
This chapter examines the impact of regional women’s transition from agriculture to the service sector and the implications of skills development. Moving from agriculture to services and from the informal to the formal economy offers the opportunity to increase female and household income and national productivity. However, in the Indonesian context, there are obstacles that limit female participation in the service and formal economies, and there are challenges to providing opportunities and support for regional women in the transition to the services economy.
