ABSTRACT

Education is shaped evermore by the digital world within which we live (Selwyn, 2013). Simultaneously, educational issues in the digital world are rooted in the social relations, cultures, politics and economics of education (Selwyn, 2017). This chapter sets out the context and significance of navigating the digital world as geographers and geography educators and introduces the voices that contribute to this endeavour. It goes on to present the four key parts of Geography Education in the Digital World: ‘Professional practice and personal identities in the digital world’; ‘Geographical sources and connections in the digital world’; ‘Geospatial technologies in digital world’; and ‘Geographical fieldwork in the digital world’.
