Integral nationalism in the absence of a nation-state

The basic assumption of the chapter is that the struggle for independence of Ukraine and the “epoch of fascism” in Europe are historical contexts equally important for an adequate understanding of Ukrainian integral nationalism, whose main varieties in the interwar period were Dmytro Dontsov’s “active nationalism” and the ideology and practice of the Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN).
