ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors share their dispositions toward and engagement in service as two post-tenure Latinas who are actively and strategically resisting taken-for-granted frameworks and notions of service. Drawing from Chicana feminist epistemology (CFE), they discuss how their locations in a racist and patriarchal society has armed them with intuition and knowledge that compels them to critique and deconstruct normative notions of service in order to serve in ways that align with their epistemological and historical foundations. They conclude their chapter with concrete advice and strategies for other post-tenure Latinas and the administrators who shape their careers.
