ABSTRACT

This chapter helps the reader to integrate ear training throughout their curricula, to connect to musical practice, and to incorporate the body in both a philosophical and corporeal sense. It aims to examine with critical awareness the fundamental similarities of the techniques used and their fitness for their designated purposes and to understand the value of interconnections when considering the use of technology in ear training. There have been many versions of curricula for aural skills being taught separately and within music programs: from training packages designed to accompany performance grades, to those that are part of state and national models of music education, to those that are online applications designed to supplement independent ear training, and so on. The educators surround the process, acting as the facilitators of learning, by taking into account the terrain of aural training in terms of practical, theoretical, and technological music making.
