ABSTRACT

The Quran curriculum most often focuses on memorization and at best a combination of memorization with understanding key themes, vocabulary, and meaning. Students, however, often have unanswered questions related to how the Quran was revealed, preserved, appreciated, and interpreted and how it is relevant today. Students often do not know the Quran's intrinsic beauty, power, and richness of meaning. Through an analysis of several curriculum frameworks and select themes, this chapter will explore how the Quran is currently taught in schools and then provide insights and suggestions on how the study of the Quran could be expanded and deepened.
