ABSTRACT

This concluding chapter summarizes the main goals and purposes of the various cases presented in the book. Readers are invited to reflect on the diverse cases by reflecting in a number of focused ways on what they learned and how they might apply these lessons: the general contribution of cases as real-life examples, the factors that promote and interfere with productive learning about evaluation, the culture and characteristics of both the evaluand and the evaluators that affect the progress of any evaluation, the reminder that inclusive approaches that combine alternatives rather than forcing a choice between them can be especially helpful, a reminder of the general value of reflection both during activities as well as learning from past actions to improve future choices, and notes that good relationship skills are an essential component of excellent evaluation.
