ABSTRACT

Parking can have a significant impact on the transportation system. Besides its long-term effects on travel demand, the regulation and usage of urban parking can also directly influence traffic performance. It is thus important to understand both the long-term and the short-term effects of different parking policies not only on the parking system but also on the traffic levels and associated congestion. This chapter will look at the interactions between parking and traffic systems as well as the specific impacts of different parking policies.
