ABSTRACT

Visualizations of tourist attractions on websites have become a common practice in providing information to potential visitors. Increasingly, websites include virtual tours of the interior and/or the exterior of sites. The purpose of this chapter is to show a trend toward more virtualities in the tourism field and to discuss the existence of virtual museums and the more frequent uses of virtual environments and virtual reality attractions. Two examples are chosen to highlight the current practices: the Anne Frank House virtual tours offered since 2010, and the visualizations of the Berlin Wall in the context of the Cold War.
