ABSTRACT

This part introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters. The part provides explicit the flourishing philosophies that can underpin enabling programs and the certain ingredients needed to ensure the ideal is enacted effectively. It describes how a shared devotion to the philosophy of flourishing can lay the foundation for new and effective pedagogies that can engage learners. The part argues that reflexivity, when nurtured through learning activities that foster greater insights into self, can sponsor flourishing. It provides the discussion of emancipatory education and stress the importance of critical pedagogies for teaching students how to strengthen their critical consciousness and exercise their reasoning for more autonomous lives.
