ABSTRACT
The analysis and investigation of medical negligence claims are as much about the medicine as they are about the law. The legal nurse consultant (LNC) supports the legal team by analyzing cases through the eyes of a healthcare provider (HCP), providing appropriate insights and advice from the unique legal nursing perspective. Successful LNCs understand the importance of effective and efficient case analysis and have developed their analytical skills to provide this valuable service to attorneys. They understand the various elements and considerations in case analysis, and they investigate and critically analyze these to present them to the attorney. This analysis includes recognizing not only the strengths of the case but also the issues that may be difficult to surmount. This careful, thorough, and detailed case analysis is invaluable to attorneys and critical to the LNC’s success.
