ABSTRACT
When analyzing medical product liability claims for drugs and devices, the roles for a legal nurse consultant (LNC) may be challenging and at times quite complex. The LNC will need to utilize both legal knowledge and medical expertise while remaining current with research regarding various drugs and devices that fall under the product liability statutes. The LNC must take an analytic approach when reviewing the allegations then comparing the allegation to the medical records and product information. In addition, a solid knowledge of government rules and regulations as well as the regulatory requirements for manufacturing companies will be essential for the LNC when working with product liability claims.
