ABSTRACT

A life care plan (LCP) is a dynamic document based upon published standards of practice, comprehensive assessment, data analysis, and research, which provides an organized concise plan for current and future needs with associated costs for individuals who have experienced catastrophic injury or have chronic healthcare needs. Life care planners are often legal nurse consultants (LNCs) who have expanded their practice. Therefore, it is important for LNCs to understand all the practical aspects of life care planning and the varied parties who incorporate it into their businesses. The LNC should be knowledgeable of the damages side of the litigation process and understand the subtleties regarding the advocacy element of their scope of practice in this context.
