ABSTRACT

Each state has one or more administrative bodies under the executive branch of government responsible for protecting and improving the health and safety of the state’s residents. The administrative bodies are responsible for assuring access to high-quality healthcare services and ensuring the safe practice of regulated health professions. Whether working for the prosecution or the defense, legal nurse consultants (LNCs) play a significant role throughout healthcare provider licensure investigations and administrative actions. Legal nurse consultants should be familiar with the applicable laws regulating healthcare professions and governing licensure investigations and administrative actions. Understanding the investigative process and proceedings will assist the LNC in becoming an invaluable member of the legal team.
